What Jobs Offer the Best Work-Life Balance? Resources

You hear a lot of talk these days about work-life balance, or the extent to which a job lets you do satisfying work while maintaining some semblance of a normal human existence during your downtime. According to the career site Glassdoor, statistics tracking work-life satisfaction have been dropping in recent years, and today’s culture of constant connectivity has led many people to feel like they’re never able to take a breather.

But not every career is like this, and in a new report titled “The 25 Best Jobs for Work-Life Balance,” Glassdoor highlights the fields that scored the highest over the past year in terms of employee satisfaction. To be considered for the study, a career must have received at least 75 reviews over the last year from employees of at least 75 companies, and there must be a minimum of 200 job openings posted on Glassdoor.

While the best-rated careers vary somewhat, there’s a “strong theme” this year of tech jobs and in-demand fields scoring well, Glassdoor trends analyst Scott Dobroski told Forbes.

“When jobs are in demand that does typically give seekers a little more wiggle room,” Dobroski said. “Say the employee says, ‘I want to work from home or have a flexible work schedule.’ If they’re the right fit the employers will more often than not work to make that happen.”
